The Cool Bananas CD was created to provide children with a selection of strong, regulated rhythms to support a state of calm, organization, and regulation in their nervous systems.
Enchanting, popular children's songs sung at 50 to 70 beats per minute support the dysregulated child as background music during therapy, classroom time, and home activities (e.g., table top time, play time, bath time, car rides).
Don Campbell, in his book, Rhythms of Learning, discusses the importance of using rhythms of 50 to 70 beats per minute: "The pulse in these slow movements is similar to the rhythm of the human heartbeat and has been found to slow body functions…." Soothing rhythms, songs, and meditative sounds are also included on this CD to support bedtime routines, cool downs, and quieter therapies.
Genevieve Jereb, OTR, is an Australian-born paediatric occupational therapist who has lectured on sensory processing disorders, both nationally and internationally, collaborating with the well-known international lecturer, Carol Stock Kranowitz (best selling author of "The Out-of-Sync Child"), in the course, "Getting Kids in Sync."
During her 10 years practicing in the United States, Genevieve has worked with leading US clinicians and lecturers, Colleen Hacker, MS, OTR, and Sheila Frick, OTR, co-teaching the course "Treatment Perspectives for Sensory Modulation Disorders." While co-owner of Therapeutic Associates in Madison, Wisconsin, Genevieve incorporated cutting edge sensory processing theory with treatment offering services to children and families throughout the United States.
Most recognized as a children's' singer and songwriter, Genevieve uses the principles of sensory processing theory to create music, songs and rhythmic activities for children with attention, motor and regulation difficulties. With over 25,000 CDs in print, her released recordings, including No Worries, Say G'day, Cool Bananas, and Jumpin' Jellybeans, provide parents, professionals, caregivers, and educators with fun and engaging, ready-to-use rhythmic songs and activities to support self regulation for the "out of sync" child.
"I am an Occupational Therapist working with special needs children in Ottawa. I heard Gen's first CD a year ago (had never heard of her before) and was so impressed that I attended her workshop in Montreal last May. Was just as impressed with the workshop as the CD. I purchased her other CDs and spread them throughout the classes in the two schools where I work. All of the teachers love them!! … As I walk through the Special Needs school I hear her music coming from every classroom. I showed the Principal the latest CD and she ordered one for every class!! The CDs have even filtered into the regular kindergarden and Grade 1 classes. Thank you Gen!!"

"Gen is an extraordinary Pediatric Occupation Therapist with the additional gift of creativity ... (she has a) voice and enthusiasm that charms children and adults."
Patti Oetter, internationally recognized lecturer in the field of Sensory Integration and author of the M.O.R.E. book
"As a teacher and a clinician, Genevieve is truly unique. She has a special way of connecting with children as well as relating to their parents. She can make the most complex information understandable to parents, thus empowering them to advocate for their children across environments. Genevieve is creativity in motion. She can make the mundane seem remarkable and the dull seem shining."
